S'more Time with my Family

Summer is winding down... Im loving every minute of spending time with my family in the nice weather. I get severe winter blues and depise being shut in. So we made another fire and had s'mores on just a regular weekday. Nothing special except for the company...

Leah of course couldn't partake of the goodies, but she had a good time regardless. It will be soon enough I will have to bribe her to eat veggies before dessert! So, Ill savour this time while it lasts.
Ayla l.o.v.e-s sweets. "Mar-mellows" are a new treat. She could care less about waiting to have them toasted and smooshed perfectly between graham crackers & chocolate. So, I think she stole 17 mar-mellows just to pass the time. Then washed it all down with a swig o' milk. Yum.
Daddy manned the fire. No we are not out in the wilderness. That is the huge hump of dirt that is my back yard. Ok, exaggerating, it is only a small portion of the back yard. Though it is a huge hump of dirt. Jeff says it will be gone this weekend...... we'll see :) I've grown accustomed to seeing it. ha
Im not sure whoever "invented" the s'more. Though, Im sure it was Sandra Smore or something like that. One, because Im sure it was a woman to concocted this lovely-ness and 2, because I said so.

This was a busy weekend. But, that is usual as the summer is coming to an end. Jeff's middle bro was in town meaning we got to cuddle with this big guy.

Ridge just turned one. I can't believe it, really. We were not able to go up to his party, so we had him a little shindig at our humble abode. It was a great time visiting with all my inlaws. We're a funny bunch. :) I took alot of pictures. Some of which they are using at his 1 yr pics. They are both new chiropractors so finding time to go to a photog is nill. Im actually quite impressed with some of them though....

We ate some great food, had a fire with smores, ice cream cake, and played in the yard. The weather was perfect. A little hot, but HEY its summer guys! Soon enough fall will be here and we'll be wishing it was warmer. Though fall truely is my fave season. Sweaters, fires, leaves changing.... its grand.

Back to the present... I took our usual grandkid picture, because we dont get together but every few months and they always seem to change. Plus, Im waiting to actually get a Good one of them all one day?! Its hard to corral kids. I don't envy my photog friends and Britt is taking on this brud in October. Phew.

I couldn't resist snapping some of littlest. She's just so darn special. Lots of rasberries and drool coming from this girl lately! I think someone is working teeth! She's also been working on sitting in her bumbo. It makes her look like such a peanut though.

Lots of love from aunties.... Above Julie swings her buddie Ayla (who isn't looking thrilled) and Gina snuggling Leah. SO sweet!

To end our time with my inlaws this weekend we topped off lunch after church. And Jeff snapped this picture for me because I realized my face is always shoved behind the camera and I don't have any pics of me and the girls.... since well.... when Leah was born!

Those boots were made for playing...

...and that just what they did. One of these days your kids will want to play in their boots too! Sang appropriately to the tune of "These boots".

Ayla wanted to wear her boots to the picnic, and well, I was in No mood to argue. So, boots it was. I have to admit she looked perfectly cute in them and it was a bit muddy out.

We ran, we jumped, we slid, we ate, we played, we piggybacked, we had a great time at our family picnic.

Feeling Fatigued

Saturday at midnight, so technically Sunday our power suddenly went out. It was raining out, but nothing unusually stormy. You ask why our power going out would have woke me and my new one up....

Well, we are modern girls living in a modern world.

We rely on our air conditioning, fan, & sound machine to help lull us to sleep. Not to mention two night lights present so that I can nurse Leah without fail and go potty at night without stubbing my toe. Plus, Ayla's baby monitor aka my security blanket.

It began getting hot. And quiet. And dark.

Really hot, super quiet, and too dark!

Leah and I did not sleep well at all. I couldn't see the hand in front of my face; let alone check on her in her bassinet. She wanted to nurse every 2.5 hours! WHAT. Sometime early in the morning, Ayla was awakened by surely the too hot, too quiet and much to dark house. She began to cry. Jeff found her red eyed and sad around 6 am when he got up for church. Poor chick. Our power was still out! He threw her in bed with me and Leah. She laid there content until the power clicked back on around 7:35 am. All three of us sighed and started to drift back to sleep as the room quickly cooled off.....

BEEP BEEP BEEP......

7:50 am alarm goes off for church- snooze
7:55 Jeff calls from church making sure we were "awake"

Luckily, we made it out the door on time... dressed, pressed, but with sleep in our eyes. It has taken 24hrs for me to feel normal. Ayla made a sock baby Moses in church. Leah is definitely teething. Boo. Goodbye Weekend, Hello Monday.

Cosby Family Picnic

What a beautiful day for a picnic. My granda Cosby had an awesome idea to get everyone together for a picnic to celebrate birthdays and anniversaries. The weather was perfect and a good amount of people were able to show. Unfortunately, I didn't get a picture of everyone. But, we had tons of fun watching the kiddos play and ate some Awesome food!!

I defintely tried to get some pics of the kids. Tried is the key word. The sun was too high or too much shade, but they are precious anyways :) Of course, nothing like what my friend Britt would have done! ha Taking pictures of toddlers and babies and thinking of lighting, etc is Not easy!

Happy 54th Anniversary Grandma & Grandpa! Here's to many, many more! :)

Notice the serious drool issue. Today was Leah's first dose of Ibuprophen. Guhhhh. Poor baby. Ayla got her first tooth at 4 1/2 mo. Leah is approaching the 4 mo mark now. Here we go...

Ayla's first train ride. Somehow she talked my Gma into going with her, which made me laugh so hard. Mommy used to ride that train!!

Parker and Ayla... oooooooh. Somehow my voice becomes null he's around. She doesn't care.about.anything.i.say. So, we had a time out. This straightened it out and then she was good. Aren't they cute? I think that is what is going to be the issue.

My biggest. Man, is she cute! ha She really wanted to wear her boots. You all can hear more about that later.....
